Intentional Design

Welcome to the DESERT POPPY, a journal about jewelry, beauty, and high-desert living. Here we explore ideas about abundance, nature, art and creative community.

For me, the process of designing and making jewelry starts before I sit down at my jeweler’s bench. My mind must be clear and my heart, open, to be in the creative space and find the flow where joy and spaciousness come in. I’ve always sought these quiet, creative moments as a means to ground and connect. As I give my presence and focus, I am filled with peace and inspiration.

Arriving at this place requires disapline. First I start my day with my mindset practice and a bit of time in the morning sun, then I move my body. I nourish. I am mindful of habitual thoughts. I watch what my senses take in. I try to prioritize time to be with and be present for family and friends. I look for an opportunity to smile and to help a neighbor or a stranger. I cultivate healthy sleep. Of course these things are woven into a full life of children, being a partner to my husband, cooking, cleaning, running around and a myriad of other adventures. I don’t always make the mark, but I am committed to this everyday and consistently orient myself to my true north. I feel blessed to wake up thrilled to dive in most mornings.

Here are some of the books and podcasts I am currently reading and listening too that keeping me aligned with being the best version of me: The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity, bu Catherine Ponder, Working with the Law, by Raymond Holliwell, The Desired Brand Effect, by Tracy Matthews, Natalia Benson The Poscast, Coffee Conversations with Adele Tevlin Podcast, and 7 Figure Standard with Arash Vossoughi Podcast.

I bring these ideas of the Universal Laws into every aspect of my life and definitely weave these principles of integrity, mindfulness, contribution and a holistic approach into my design process and choices, my connection with my wonderful customers, my imaging and message. I want to give something to everyone I encounter that leaves them feeling a little bit better, more uplifted and inspired.
